"The rocker is great. I'm sitting in it right now, as I do nearly every day, with my computer on my lap and fitting nicely between the chair arms as specified. The piece gets lots of compliments. I can't think of any improvements." I finished and delivered the rocker in June, 2015.
safety pin
It's been a while since I put anything in here because I'm so f......... depressed. I am having trouble with the silver lining in this cloud. Anyway, the resistance needs some kind of form, and the first form that I saw, in concrete terms, was the safety pin. The line under it is my scream. I hope this doesn't go where I'm afraid it's going.
Accepted by jury into the Philadelphia Furniture Show.
broken bat check
If a baseball player at bat swings and fouls a pitch off, he will frequently (in a wood bat league) turn the bat around end for end and tap the handle on the ground. Anyone who has played the game understands what he is doing. By the resulting vibration, he can tell if the bat is still sound or if he has broken it. I noticed a while ago, while sitting in one of my rockers, that if I tapped on one of the arms, the whole chair would vibrate. All my furniture seems to be that same way. The joints are so solid that the whole piece reacts like one piece of wood, like a solid baseball bat.

Paradise City, Northampton
What a great weekend! I am incredibly grateful to my family for their astounding support all weekend. I would never have been able carry it off with that style without their hard work, good sense, and excellent taste. I would also like to thank my extended family and good friends that took the time to come out for me. Jack and Ina, Ron and Marilyn, Terri and her mom, Marilyn, Frank and Cynthia, and Jim, on his birthday (thanks, bro). Big thanks to my two brothers in furniture, Dave Talley (https://www.custommade.com/by/dharmadesignfurniture/), and Peter Handler (https://www.custommade.com/by/handlerstudio/) who taught me more in 3 days than I learned all last year. Finally, a shout out to the Paradise City Arts Festival staff, who made this weekend so enjoyable and easy.
